The Races of Meztrailov are vast and many. Ranging from Vampires and Lycans, to Fae and Minotaurs. Listed below are particular guidelines for certain races in Meztrailov that we adhere to. In no way do these define the Races that are allowed to reside within the Empire, nor do they define how creative you can or cannot get with the races either. They are a way to show what follows for particular races within the Empire. Any race is welcome to claim Citizenship in the Empire of Meztrailov.
The races are as follows:
Angels: A beautiful and legendary race, created by the Gods themselves to enact their will. They are the messengers to the faithful, and powerful beyond imagining. However, when they enter the mortal coil, their power becomes limited. Angels can be a follower of another good aligned Deity. Should a full Angel have their wings cut off, they will transcend to becoming full mortal.
Succubi/Incubi: Alluring and dangerous, the Succubi and the Incubi want you to see only what your sexual desires want most. Appearing differently to some, and the same to others, these dangerous demons from the infernal flames of Hell itself are a dangerous breed to cross. A Sucubus/Incubus' main way of sustenance is sexual energy. They don't always have to engage in the activity in order to feed. If a Sucubus/Incubus refuses, or cannot, feed for a while they will begin to show signs of weakening such as paler skin, looking skinnier, etc.
Vampires: Ancient and eternally hungry, Vampires cannot walk in the daylight and they are vulnerable to being touched by silver. But where they fail short there, the Vampires have an intense strength, an amazing resiliency, and a deep and eternal thirst that must be sated. No matter what, a Vampire cannot walk in the daylight no matter how old they are. A vampire does not need to feed as often as they used to when they were first made however.
Automatons: A new race in Meztrailov, the first Automaton was created by the first Emperor of Meztrailov. Automatons themselves are living suits of armor, or even living pieces of other material, that act and move of their own accord, powered by the ancient nature magicks. Although they may look like inanimate objects, Automatons themselves are a free people to move about their own as they will and are treated equally. Automatons must spend at least four (mun) hours in a stasis mode in order to recover energy that has been used while moving about. If an Automaton has taken a lot of damage, their body will be dented, cracked, and broken. An Automaton will not function properly if they are in this condition, and a mode of rest will not recover what has been done; they much repair and then rest before being fully recovered. Otherwise, an Automaton is a strong force, especially in battle.
Dragons: The lust for a gold from a dwarf is only rivaled by the lust of Gold for a dragon. However, Dragons are also an ancient race, who've dominated Athuras and the realms for many years. Dragons in Meztrailov are rarely seen bonding with those that aren't their own kin, and their language is impossible to speak for a normal human. However, their kind is also known to be compassionate towards others if they feel they are worthy. While a Dragon can hide in a humanoid form, they cannot hide perfectly. Whether from the nose or the corner of their mouth, tendrils of smoke are there. Hordes for Dragons are common, but the horde is not only just gold; it can be other things. Magick can be effective against Dragons except for Illusion magick. Dragons are some of the greatest illusionists. But even great illusionists cannot mask things. In true form, Dragons are unable to tell or even think lies.
Elves: Majestic and born of the Wilds, the Elves are attuned with the natural world. They appear taller, and more slender than humans, with longer fingers, and more accentuated features. Their beauty is almost otherworldly, and naturally attuned to the magickal world. But sadly even one of the most beautiful of races have weaknesses. The Elves are naturally faster and more agile than compared to humans, but are not able to take as much of a beating to their bodies as a human would due to their lithe bodies.
Dwarves: Hearty, stout, and strong, the Dwarves are an ancient race whose craft with stone and steel is unparelelled save by the Elves, who can only come marginally closer. Always ready for a fight and always ready for a drink, the Dwarves tend to keep themselves to the Mountains in the Empire's borders. Very proficient in the art of minerals and smithing, Dwarves are not just hardy people that swing axes in a mine all day. They have a very fine eye for items; knowing when something is valuable and when it's common.
Immortals: Few races can truly say they are old. Even fewer still can say that they can look young and beautiful forever. The Immortals are an offshoot of humanity, whose blood was touched long ago by the Gods. While there was once thousands of them, now only a handful of noble Immortal Houses remain within the Empire. Long lived, and capable of regeneration, the Immortals only true way to kill one another off is to cut off their head.
The Faerie: Ancient, powerful, and the stuff of legends, the Faerie are just as beautiful as they are deadly. Connected to nature in ways that most living mortals don't necessarily understand. Powerful beyond imagination, the Faerie live in tune with the seasons themselves and are divided by two courts; the Seelie, which represents the Summer and the Spring, and the Unseelie which represents the Winter and the Fall. Be careful when dealing with the Fae as they find a bargain to be made in everything when they deal with humans. It's never in the full interest on the human side. There is very small protection against the Fae; it's iron.
Living Vampires: Not fully turned, but neither fully human anymore, Living Vampires are caught between the world of the living and the world of the dead. Living vampires are not exactly well loved by their vampiric peers, considered to be mutated offspring, a siring gone wrong. The most common Living Vampires are half human and half vampire.
Humans: Of all the races, they are considered to be the most easily defeated and perhaps the most fragile. But in the long run, most would be wrong. Even the older races underestimate the human capacity for potential and learning. In Meztrailov, it's not uncommon for humans to reach the age of 100 or even 125 years, despite other realms.
Halfbreeds: There are those that would mix the races and defy the natural order of things. and Halfbreeds are born. Some races consider Halfbreeds to be mutations and should be destroyed, others view them as simply part of the natural cycle. While both parents contribute skills and strengths to their offspring, they also contribute weaknesses. Shared weaknesses between the two races are just as strong in their offspring; sometimes stronger.
Were-Creatures: Tied to the moon and it's eternal power, the Were-creatures trace their roots back to when the Animal Gods gave forth their power and nature merged with the mortal coil. The Were-Creatures come in a variety of forms and while some have accepted their bestial natures, others have trouble blending into society.
Silver is normally a strong enemy of Weres.
Druada: The dreaded blood enemies of the ancient Elves, Druada translates to Dark Elf in ancient High Elven. What set these two apart from one another, none have ever spoken of, but the Druada are a sick and twisted race, who uses humans and dwarves and Dragons for slaves. They are smart, and matriarchal in nature, and deadly beyond reasoning, relying on their natural cunning and knowledge of magicks and poisons. They are like their Elven brethren they are agile and quick but are not equipped to take much of a melee beating.
Demons: Infernal, ancient, and masters of lies, they offer mortals what they know mortals want only to enslave their souls for a greater purpose. Powerful, Demons are impossible to kill, but they can be banished. They take mostly human forms to blend in with society, or elven, but the power of a demon should never be misjudged, as there is always a faint smell of brimstone about them. No demon can repent, love, or do any such thing that would allow them to ascend to Heaven. While they may love another being, that does not change what they are. There is no path, no way, that can stop a demon from being what they are. A Demon.
Elementals: Powerful, and the results of the Deities presence on Earth, Elementals have a vast control over the very elements themselves, often times being made up of that very specific element. Elementals are a race that are newly born in the Empire, only recently starting to show themselves to the general public. Unlike Elemental Mages who can only slightly manipulate the elements, Elementals are made from the very element they are in tune with. There are opposites that don't attract for Elementals, just like the very elements that gave them life:
Fire is against Water and vice versa
Earth is against Air and vice versa
