City of Rosemerrow
Rosemerrow: The times of Twilight D’Sci
The town of Rosemerrow was established originally by the Dwarves of the Zhan’teir Clan. Ancient and powerful creatures, and one of the original founding clans of Twilight D’Sci. A strong and hearty Dwarven Clan, well renowned for their ability to imbibe alcohol and wreak absolute havoc when in light spirits, they were also known for their love and respect of the natural stones and resources produced from nature. The master of the Clan, Brenenor Heldenfist Zhan’Teir was clan King, because of his natural affinity for crafting, and mining. When granted Rosemerrow, he and his clan first sought out the natural resources of the earthen soil. Among realizing they were located not half a mile from the base of a Mountain, they soon came to begin construction of their massive Dwarven Hold, a small Fiefdom born into stone. The Discovery of the Rosemerrow Mines: The Dwarves grew comfortable in their home, but realized quickly that their homes were located directly in the path of the mountains and whatever threat remained there. This wouldn’t do. And while Brenenor realized that this people were strong and resilient, and their numbers great, the people needed resources. After some investigations and scouting, Brenenor located something that he didn’t expect to find.
The Rosemerrow Mines.
However, he found something much more. What he found, no one knows for sure, because any and all witnesses swore a vow of silence on the subject. But it was that day that Brenenor vowed to protect the City of Rosemerrow and ensure that it rose to prominence. And that it did. And for a time, Rosemerrow established itself amongst the other cities as the Mining City, and as such, an ancient and powerful artifact was made, a golden pickaxe, supposedly touched by the Dwarven Gods, a symbol of their power and faith in their hearty race, fit for a King to rule his people.
And with this weapon he defended his people. The first major threat Rosemerrow faced was that of the Orc invasion. Brenenor and his people, for thirty days, faced a siege led by Drow who managed to manipulate Orcs into doing their bidding. For thirty days, Brenenor watched as his people were slaughtered or enslaved and carried off. When it looked bleak, and he and his people were forced to retreat to Rosemerrow Hall, a home built into the mountains of Rosemerrow, when help arrived. Help arrived in the form of the Human King of Drakenhardt, and the Elven King of the people of Impathica. Their vast armies were able to drive the Orc horde off. However, they found their Drow enemies located in the Rosemerrow Mines, their corpses mutilated their death expressions wracked with horror and agony beyond that which any mortal could ever know. And it was when Brenenor came upon these bodies with the human King of Drakenhardt and the Elven King of Impathica, that the three knew that Twilight D’Sci hosted spirits and powers beyond their understanding and it was better to let sleeping entities lay.
Rosemerrow: The Fall of King Softhaven and the Rise of Hope
As the years passed, and the country of Twilight D’Sci grew, Brenenor had a fair number of successors for a myriad of reasons. However, it wasn’t until the rule of King William Softhaven that Rosemerrow knew trouble. Immediately upon his ascension to the throne William Softhaven began replacing those that would not fall in line with his own corrupt ends. As a result, then King Zhan’Tier was arrested for conspiracy against the crown and then summarily executed. His replacement came in the form of the Dwarven Dominated Rosemerrow’s worst Nightmare: A Drowess was made Baroness of Rosemerrow. And Rosemerrow only plunged into further despair. The Drowess enslaved the Dwaves, forcing such high taxes that most either entered in to slave labor, or forced labor from the enforcers the Drowess paid to keep things in line. And while the people of Rosemerrow suffered and the coffers of Rosemerrow began to deplete, so too did the mines slowly begin to dry up in resources. The Drowess however had no concerns. She had what she wanted after all.
It wasn’t until the arrival of the new Knight Commander, an individual by the name of Malice, that change hit the air. Upon his arrival with a regiment of Knights, inspections were made. Malice’s immediate order was to have the Drowess arrested and brought back to the Capital for failure to pay her tithes, at the order of King Softhaven. Following her arrest, Malice took a few rebels aside, and warned them that in three weeks time he would be sending a signal to his rebels and that it would be time for the people to take back their homes, and take back their lands. And it was after a week, when the Drowess returned, that she realized something right.
Two Weeks after his arrival, the signal came, and the Drowess realize what was going on far too late. It was when the ancient pickaxe forged nine centuries earlier by King Brenenor punctured her neck that she realized there was a rebellion in the works. Her dying sight was that of Rosemerrow, uniting against King Softhaven’s people.
Rosemerrow: The Reform
Under Malice’s rule, the lands were rebuilt. Under King Malice’s rule and reform, the once proud Zhan’Teir clan was restored to their former glory, however very few of the original clan truly remained. Malice’s reforms restored Rosemerrow to a prosperous and crucial key point in the Kingdom’s defense. The only difference was that Rosemerrow Hall was moved further into the mountains, to represent a bulwark between enemy threats and the people of Rosemerrow. The Rosemerrow Mines once again began producing minerals, as though alive, and it was not until the Djinn War that Rosemerrow would fall truly again. However, during the Djinn War, Rosemerrow proved to be one of the more powerful strongholds that King Malice acquired back from the enemy. During Malice’s rule Rosemerrow would demonstrate its fine crafts and mining skills and help lead the nation as one of its leading exports of gold and steel.
Rosemerrow: The Exodus
When the Arch-Demon tried to laid siege to the Kingdom, Rosemerrow was the first line of defense to the west. When the Hell Gates began to open and demons began to infect the Kingdom, and begin annihilating all, Rosemerrow was the first to answer the call of defense, honoring King Malice and his valiant sacrifices for its people. The dwarven miners and smiths worked hard to create the airships that would eventually carry the people of the Kingdom out and into the New world known as Athuras.
Now, in the world of Athuras, Rosemerrow is but a city of the Kingdom now turned Empire. With King Malice’s sacrifice, Emperor Elric Bereou rules. And Rosemerrow Prospers under the Barony. Rebuilt, Rosemerrow still remains a mining city, and despite all, somehow, the Rosemerrow Mines still produce minerals, though not as in such great supply. Under the current nobility, Rosemerrow has prospered, and remained strong, and under the protection of Emperor Bereou, fierce, tough and confident.
