Roleplaying Definitions
Whether you have been role playing for 10+ years, or only just begun, sometimes it’s nice to know exactly what people are talking about. Here on this page, are definitions of role play terms you’ll most likely come across in Meztrailov and other role play areas should you decide to branch out.
RP: Role play. Especially if you’re new this term might seem a little confusing to you. Role play is the activity in which you take on the different life of a character. Whether you make that character like you, or even make it you in a different era, you’ll be roleplaying.
SL: Storyline. The storyline is the plot that your character is a part of. In Meztrailov, the overall SL is the going ons and survival of Meztrailov. Any event that is done where rewards in participation is given, are small SL’s. Or they are known as mini storylines.
IC: In Character. When you are role playing your character, this is the person everyone will see you as. You are your character. Whether male or female, human or not, this is the person you have become.
OOC: Out Of Character. When you are not in character, you are (obviously) out of character. Sometimes the room will go out of character where there is no role play going on.
Mun: Member Under Name. This is the term for a person using the screen name and the role playing of a particular character.
Char: Character. While this term can sometimes be self-explanatory, it’s here none the less to be sure that people know. Char is the shortened version of Character.
Post: This is rather self-explanatory as well. Post is the act of posting in the chat room, or an instant message (IM), or even on a message board. It is the way others know what your character is saying and or doing.
::, -, * : In Character Action Marks. These are the symbols that are used by some muns to let others around them know that their character is doing an action and not talking. There are many symbols you can make so don’t let yourself be restricted by what’s up here. Sometimes muns don’t put action marks. They sometimes choose to use quotation marks to let you know when they’re character is talking while all of their actions are read like a book.
Spar: A friendly, non-lethal fight between characters. This is the term used when asking someone for a fight.
DM: Death Match. This is a type of fight one could be asked to engage in between characters. Whether the reason is because your character pissed off another, or because the other character is just trying to show off, or be a badass, a death match within Meztrailov means that if your character loses, you will be considered dead and have to make another character. Unless you still have your three resurrections.
HM: Honor Match. An Honor match is a match that requires someone’s honor be restored. Or you wish to fight but not for any other reason than to train. Or to see how well someone does in a fight.
SM: Slave Match, Scar Match. Slave Match is a match where the loser of the fight shall be enslaved to the victor. Until such a time that the enslaved can be set free. Now while this is normally how a Slave match goes, slave matches are not allowed within Meztrailov as slavery is forbidden in the Empire.
MS: Mass Spar. A Mass Spar is a group of people getting together to spar either as even teams against the other, or a free for all. Which is everyone on their own teams to be the last one standing.

Enhancer: An Enhancer is an object used for defense, offense, stealth, perception, or various other means which slightly yet permanently raise a character's stats.
Example: Sarah has a natural Defense of5. When she goes to the Marketplace, she turns around and buys a piece of chest armor that defers a bonus Defense of 5. So this would now give her a total Defense of 10. Though once she sells the armor piece, her natural Defense will drop back down to 5.
Rezz: Resurrection. A resurrection is the act of bringing a character back to life after they have died. In Meztrailov, characters are allowed only three resurrections. The first one is free. The other two will require a payment.
CRP: Cross Role Play. The act of a player taking information they know out of the game and suddenly making their character have that same knowledge that they would not otherwise normally have and acting to prevent a scenario, situation, or simply using that information to help their character for their own selfish gain.
Example: Jim has recently learned that for an SL, several characters, including his own, are potentially going to be arrested for a murder they did not commit, yet the In Character Environment is not hinting at Jim's character being arrested. From there, Jim's character then has his character approach the authorities and say, "I did not perform that crime. If you want to arrest me, you'll have to kick my ass first". In this situation, Jim has taken the information he has learned Out of Character and made his character suddenly aware of the arrest that may he may be facing.
Moding: The act of not accepting something that should happen. This is when someone claims that such a thing as a punch to the face that has been rolled on, or an agreed upon action is reniged on.
Example: John is a Citizen and a rogue who has made the choice of actually stealing from a noble. Tim is the one investigating and making the arrest of John. It’s been rolled on and proven that Tim made the arrest. John turns around and says that he escapes being caught. John has modded his way out of the arrest.
