Faith In the Empire
“I wouldn’t call myself a righteous man, my lord, but I believe that through tolerance and understanding, and every now and then a kick in the ass from the Powers that Be, we can all be unique in our own way.”
Former Master Cleric Lucas Deialaan to Emperor Elric Bereou
Former Master Cleric Lucas Deialaan to Emperor Elric Bereou
Faith was never prominent in the Empire until King Malice took the throne, back before the Empire was an Empire. King Malice, despite being a naturally born dragon was a believer in the Christian God. He held true to its virtues and understandings, and his leadership promoted tolerance and acceptance. Because of this, many other God and Goddesses have become prominent in the Empire and their churches and temples and faiths have spread all across the Kingdom.
As an Empire, Meztrailov has many citizens who worship. Faith and Belief are an important part of Meztrailov’s heritage and still to this day there are thousands of clerics who preach the good word and the bad. With such a diverse pantheon, it’s hard to believe that an Empire could exist through unity. The Emperor decreed that the churches would practice, and that the Gods could have domain over the lands of Meztrailov under the conditions they performed their duties. For such a thing to occur was unheard of! No one defied a God! But because Elric, son of Malice believed in the strength of his knowledge and what he himself he could accomplish, he had no need for the Gods. He had proven through learning he could do what they could to lesser degrees, and that was what counted. For his courage, and perhaps his stupidity, an agreement was made.
There are many churches in the Empire, whose Gods and Goddesses will heed their prayers if the faithful are willing. As such, these different cultures have come together to form a unique pantheon of Deities.

The Human Deities
Al’Liyh, Goddess of Fertility and Agriculture
The Goddess Al’Liyh holds dominion over the birth rites and crops. An ancient being of gentle nature, she offers her blessings to the people to ensure a safe and healthy birth of both children and crops. The rituals performed are generally done under the Crescent Moon. These rituals are performed to cleanse the soul and body by inhaling natural incense and offering sacred prayer to Al’lyh. Balanthiel, God of Fate, Destiny, Truth, and Hope
Fate can be good or bad and the poor peasant will occasionally throw prayers to the great Balanthiel. The Master of Destiny, Balanthiel is a whimsical deity of neutral nature. When prayers are offered to Balanthiel, they are generally only answered when the circumstances call for it. If the Lord of Fate takes an interest in the matter it means that there is some kind of threat to the Balance. Balanthiel’s creed teaches to respect your destiny and do not try to defy it. Altering the course of your destiny only unfolds another path and one that could perhaps be more perilous than the former.
Denizen, God of Death, Decay, Destruction and King of the Pantheon
Some know him as the Mad God, or the Lord of Decaying Faces. Denizen’s religious dogma teaches one not to be afraid of death; but, to welcome it in whatever sadistic facet it might take place as. Embrace the things that would have you fear disease, corruption, and eventually lead to your demise. These are the welcomed elements. Death is not a greater punishment but a path to a new plane of existence. It is not unknown for Denizen’s teachings to be followed by necromancers, murderers, and psychopaths. Also, it is not unknown for the mortician or the grave keeper to offer prayers to the God of Death and keep the dead protected in their journey to the other side.
Heirocause, God of Intrigue, Shadows, and Trickery
The assassin, the thief, the spy, the deceiver, and gambler all call Heirocause their master. Known by many names such as the Silver Tongue, Mask, and others for the constant riddles and deceit. Always known to force his followers to antagonize one another for his own amusement. Even amongst the Cosmic Pantheon he is a constant thorn in the side of his cousin, Denizen. Constantly undermining the Mad God is something that Heirocause lives for.
Corynthia, Goddess of Magick, Creation, Knowledge, and Art
When the world was young and mortals new born, the Goddess Corynthia saw the potential that the mortals offered. So, she allowed them access to the Magickal Weave. Now, with the arcane unlocked their potential could grow by leaps and bounds. Corynthia gave them the opportunity to create life and beauty by giving them magick. They did so with the gifts provided. Despite all the terrible deeds Corynthia and her teachings preach to spread the knowledge of Magick and apply it's use where you can. Her followers are to treat magick as a respected ally and not abuse it's power.
Ulkair, God of the Ages, God of Time, Philosophy, and Wisdom
It is between the masses that a smaller existence of religious worship extends. While some try to defy time and its aging advances there are those that hold true to it's own existence. It serves to progress their own times and experiences in which they lived. Ulkair stands as their Patron Deity to these individuals. The deeply philosophical and educated offer thanks to Ulkair for the gift of free thought gave to mortals.
Seracious, Goddess of Fortune, Beauty, and the Hunt
The Huntress Seracious has always been known as a noble soul and a protector of the forests. Gamblers are most notably known for trying to offer prayer towards the mighty Seracious. The Huntress is known however, to throw ill fortune towards those who would offend her, her followers, and their teachings. Her ways are that no matter the creature it is beautiful to some degree and that you must find the beauty within yourself to reach your full potential.
Xav’Ian-Tormhaz, God of Chaos
The God of Chaos is not spoken of out loud. This is not because of its ill intent or because it is some secret society but because the religion is scarcely known by a few truly devoted followers. Radical fanatical devotion to the worship of the God of Chaos extend towards the more faithful and true followers of the religion. It is preached that the God of Chaos speaks from the Void where all Mortal Worlds were born. The Chaos God also preaches that mortals themselves are inherently perfect where they are in the grand scheme; but if they wish to further their own natural potential to do so by whatever means necessary. Then again the true nature of the God of Chaos… is at best conjecture…
Asenth, God of Debauchery, God of Gluttony, Lust, and Inebriation
The Drunken God, Asenth, is not only praised for his devotion to his followers; but also his diligence of keeping the night alive. The appeals of his dominions warrant him many worshippers with a full cup of wine and fine scenery galore. The lessons learned from the Lord of Intemperance are simple: Keep your cup full, your bed warm, and your stomach stuffed with every indulgence of want. Where there is a lonesome soul with nowhere to turn; clash a glass with them and enjoy a night of ecstasy and bliss. For where there is a frown; there is an opportunity to turn it around.
Niraya, Goddess of the Natural Elements
The Elemental Queen is the keeper of the four natural elements: Fire, Earth, Air, and Water. Carefully molding the balance of each to maintain a peaceful harmony amongst them. She bestows upon her followers the peace and serenity that comes with nature. Though, with such also comes the wrath and resilience of it as well.
Sul'ormu, God of the Subconscious, God of Psionics, Dreams, and Transcendence
The Cerebral Deity is a mastermind of the cognitive arts. Where there is thought; he has a presence. While his intentions are very unclear it is known that Sul'ormu often pushes the children gifted with psychokinesis to a whole new level. This never ceases. Often, he invades the dreams of his worshippers and enemies to instill his will and have his desires carried out through the mortal body. He preaches that the mind is the most powerful element of all and without it insanity is the only salvation. Through constantly transcending to the next stage of gift and ability are 'they' to overcome the most challenging of obstacles.
Path, God of Order, God of Law, Healing, and Peace
The Watcher is truly neutral in all things. He observes but hardly interferes in the meddling's of others as long as his rule isn't obstructed. Path is also dispassionate about what events unfold around him. The fact he barely communicates and never speaks with the other deities and his followers make him difficult to decipher. However, those who actually do choose to represent him and manage to prove their worth are typically given a small token of his gratitude. Rumor has it the day this god speaks the apocalypse will be prophesied.
Zyneste, Goddess of Nurture, Goddess of Love, Family, and Life
The Empress of Divinity rarely reveals herself to mortal eyes out of fear of becoming blinded by her radiance and resplendence. Her brother, Asenth, and herself are often feuding due to their perspectives of what makes a relationship. Even so, those who shun the Drunken God in favor of Zyneste are gifted with prosperity within their marital standings. She believes in the ways of faithfulness, integrity, and communion. Family comes before all else for if you cannot shed your blood for those of your blood; where do you stand?

It is not uncommon for tribute and prayer to be offered to this deity during times of war.
Moregathi, the Shadow Weaver, Goddess of the Druada, Assassins, and Torture

The Vampire Deities
Razor’Taghsla’Vaneir’Sanshri, God of Blood, Vampire God of Creation
Little is known about the Vampire Blood God, whose names vary. Some call it by its full name, others by the name of Razor. What is speculated however is that Razor is the God of Blood, and God of the Vampire race. What followers he does have preach that during the days of the first humans, seeing their perfection, Razor selected two to bear strength beyond measure, to act as wolves amongst the sheep, and to protect the weaker races from the outer darkness. However, in their obtaining of this new found power, they abused it and so incurred the wrath of their God. Beset by arrogance and false pride, the Blood God cursed the immortals with the strongest of hungers, that of Blood. Further, never again would they walk in the sunlight and understand the grace of the light, knowing only shadows. The sun burnt their skin and would reduce them to ashes, and if they did not feed they would not maintain their strength. However, fickle as deities are, there was a surprising twist: If they drank too much, their hunger would literally consume them, and their un-life would escape the mortal shell. Followers of the Blood God tend to keep the shadows and rarely interfere with human life unless it’s to feed. There are other beliefs however, that the Blood God prepares for a war with the mortals, and that Vampires are the natural dominant creatures of the food chain. However, like all deities…The Blood God is but another of the fickle many.
