Compendium of Technology in Meztrailov
Technology in the Empire of Meztrailov is somewhat more advanced than other medieval societies thanks to the remarkable advances made by the Alchemists and Magian of the Empire. The following is the types of technologies that Meztrailov current employs, while new advances are always being made. (Please note however, that the Empire of Meztrailov will always be a Medieval Fantasy Game, with some elements of steam-punk, not fully. Never will you see trains or automatic weaponry).
Black Powder Weaponry: Black Powder weaponry is a series of black powder based weapons such as muskets, flintlock pistols, and cannons.
Airships: Airships run off of magickal crystal core engines, and their length and size may vary, however you will never see an airship the size of a row boat as these ships are the size of any average sea floating vessel. They are run using a runic tablet that the Captain of each Airship is specifically taught to run, and they are powered by crystal core engines protected by specially enchanted metals to ensure they cannot be easily destroyed. However, like any other ship, it is possible to destroy them. Some Airships use magickal energy to fire from their cannons, but this is most noticable among the Corsairs, the Imperial Navy, and the Armed Forces of Meztrailov.
Iron Forged Weapons and Armor: Iron weaponry is as common as is wooden weaponry such as shields and bucklers.
Nexus Portals: Magickal portals that are located in each city, they are connected through ley-lines of magick that run through the Empire, discovered by the Magian of the Empire. These Nexus Portals are used for transportation, and run off of magick. They are protected by elite guards who are the only ones next to the City, Kingdom, and Village leaders who know the access words to activate the Nexus Portals.
Primaris Gates: These ancient Gates were discovered and not activated upon Meztrailov's settlement in the World of Athuras. The purpose of these gates is to keep the Void from constantly interferring; despite the occasional Rift Event that does occur. The Primaris Gates are located in the Major Cities of the Empire, secretory hidden and guarded heavily by the Emperor and his Family for the protection of the realm. Only the Alchemists and Magian are allowed to work and fix on these ancient gates, as their creation and origin is unknown even to the most learned of scholars in the Empire. The best conjecture was that they were created by a civilization that long ago died out before Meztrailov settled in Athuras.
Swords: As is typical in any medieval society, the sword is as common as water and barrels, as is their style, ranging from two handed to one handed.
Daggers: Same as swords, these weapons are smaller however, and are not to be confused with knives. There are small daggers, known as Kunai, that fit between the fingers and have a small almost arrow like head. These daggers are not uncommon in certain parts of the Empire, but more rare in others.
Shields: Common as barrels, these protective items are made of different materials and are based on the user's needs. Some can become enchanted while others cannot.
Knives: Different than daggers, these weapons can be used for a variety of things, from butchering to cooking, to sharpening arrows and crafting them, however, they do not have the same size as a dagger or sword.
Ranged Weaponry: These include bows, Cross Bows, and Repeating Cross Bows, which were recently developed by the Alchemists Guild. Repeater Crossbows are a more rare type of weapon but they do exist in the Empire.
Magick Tech: This can include specialty armor, and is incredibly expensive, however, common in some parts of the empire, but not common in others. Magickal Tech based weapons and armor are items that have been infused with magick in order to improve their quality and defensive capabilities.
Psychic Tech: Because Psychics cannot be Magian, as this clashes with their mentality, Psychics have been known to carry weapons that include Psychic blades, powered by crystals that channel pure psychic energy, however these are incredibly rare items and still have not reached every corner of the Empire.
