Living Vampires
For centuries, Living Vampires have walked among other races; hiding among others yet never giving away the darker side of their habits. They are accepted by neither humans or vampires, always caught on that fine line of being one or the other. Living Vampires are a rare thing to come across be they born naturally or in astronomically rare circumstances of being created.

Racial Traits
At puberty the Living Vampire shall gain the following traits below.
- Strength Boost: At purberty (15), the Living Vampire gains supernatural strength.
- Resist the Thirst: Blood is not necessary for a Living Vampire to survive. Blood is a very potent drug to a Living Vampire. The temptation to partake is always there.
- Will to Survive: Even though the virus is dormant until First Death, the Living Vampire is still able to endure longer than the average human due to their partaking of vampiric blood. They live to be multiple centuries older, usually with a lifespan that ends at 250 years, however, it is said that some Living Vampires have lived to be as old as three to four hundred years old.
Racial Detriments
- Give in to the Thirst: One small taste of blood causes immediate addition for a Living Vampire. As with any potent, addictive drug, the Living Vampire will experience things like hyper vigilance, hyper sensitivity, hyper sexuality, lack of appetite, weight loss and compromised immune system. Withdrawals are common when attempting to *get clean* and the Living Vampire will notice a decrease in everything from stamina to speed for a period of days equal to the number of pints of blood they've drunk.
- Sun Sensitivity: Living Vampires are naturally very pale in complexion. Because of this, like average humans, they are susceptible to sun burn. For this reason, many Living Vampires choose to cover themselves and take precautions against sun burn. They also shade their eyes when in bright light as the eyes are more sensitive to the light than the average human.
- Religious Belief: Unlike a full vampire, Religious ceremonies, icons, priests and houses of worship do not cause any physical reactions. As long as the virus is dormant in the body, a Living Vampire may become a priest or cleric . . but ONLY for as long as the virus is DORMANT. Unless the Living Vampire has some religious ties or beliefs, going into churches, temples or being a part of a ceremony may cause feelings of unease and perhaps even a bit of dread or nausea.
- Infections: There may come a time when a Living Vampire is faced with infection from another race or species. If bitten or scratched by a were creature, the active Were Virus will permanently suppress or erase the dormant Vampire Virus. If this should happen either by choice or accident, there will be only one Death and all rules governing the species of were creature that bit or scratched you now apply. Also at this time, all Living Vampire boosts are lost as the boosts from the were virus takes over.
- Life After Death: A Living Vampire will live about as long as a human does. At puberty they begin to age at a rate of about 2 years slower than a normal human. This will continue until the Living Vampire dies from old age and natural causes or death in the line of duty. Again it must be mentioned that most Living Vampires have come to terms with what they are and choose to end their 'human' life at anywhere between 20 and 45 years of age.
- First Death: The first time a Living Vampire dies, the dormant vampire virus becomes active. This is a painful process to go through as vital organs begin to die and wither. Sun sensitivities kick in as does the abhorrence to all things holy. If the Living Vampire had been a cleric during his or her human life, they will find they can no longer practice that way of life and all rules governing the Full or True Vampire now apply.
- Second Death: Vampires are afforded a second death. This is a permanent death and their remains will turn to ash. There is no coming back from this death short of divine (ironic yes?) intervention.
- Procreation: Unlike with a Full or True Vampire, there are no reproductive restrictions. The vampire virus is NOT passed from Living Vampire parent to child. Even if both parents should carry the dormant virus, it is not passed. The virus does not skip generations as other maladies or infections. If the Living Vampire mates with another that is not human or Vampire, the resultant child will still be human and be susceptible to all diseases and injuries that might befall other humans. NOTE: If a Living Vampire mates with a Full Vampire, he or she may be asked to roll for a chance that the resultant child will carry the virus. A Living Vampire may produce ONLY one child in this manner that carries the Virus. Any other children produced will be strictly human.
